Weldability

The material 2.4632 can be welded well using conventional welding processes. For thicknesses up to approx. 5 mm, TIG and MIG provide satisfactory results. Above this thickness, microcracks can occur in both the welding zone and the heat-affected zone. The workpiece should be welded in a stress-free, metallically bright and dirt-free condition and Alloy 90 should be in a solution-annealed condition. Annealing colours should be removed directly after welding, i.e. while still warm, using a stainless steel brush. A final heat treatment after welding provides optimum properties.
