1.4762

Data sheet material 1.4762 / AISI 446

X10CrAlSi25

Ferritic heat-resistant chrome steel

Brief description

The material 1.4762 / AISI 446 or Sicromal 12 belongs to the group of heat-resistant ferritic chromium steels. It has excellent resistance to sulphur-containing gases at high temperatures, especially under reducing conditions. Due to its increased chromium content, the material 1.4762 is more resistant to scaling than 1.4742.

Weldability

The material 1.4762 can be welded using all standard welding processes. For workpieces with wall thicknesses greater than 3 mm, the workpiece should be preheated to approx. 200°C - 300°C. A high energy density should be avoided to prevent coarse grain formation. If an austenitic filler metal is used, the austenitic weld bead must be covered with a ferritic one.
